*~*~* News *~*~*

What's going on in my life:

I started school up again a couple months ago and it's really eating into my daily schedule again. It's hard enough being at work 9 hours a day 5 days a week... then to have class on top of that. Mind you, I'm only taking one online English class, but I'm spending at least 12 hours a week on it... the work load is crazy. I don't know how people attend school full time and work full time. I'm stressed out with what I'm doing.

I haven't had much time to watch TV, but I got a hold of a program called KeyHoleTV. It's basically a virtual TV tuner for the computer. I can pick up all the majour broadcast stations from Japan, America's CNN, and SF2 out of Switzerland among others.
I found out SF2 has a children's programming block that is reminiscent of the what the afternoon kid's lineups used to be like in the States. The live shows are old classics like Pippi Longstocking and Heidi and the cartoons are great with no E/I logos to be seen. I adore one show in particular, Horrid Henry. I found out it was based on some kid's book series in England. I love the premise of the show and the artwork beats the snot out of most of the stuff I see on Saturday mornings or on Cartoon Network. At least I got one cartoon on TV I like besides the old stuff.

Art wise:

Mostly I've been sketching things during my work breaks or before I go to bed to relax. I posted a few of them in my scrapbook. I don't think they're good enough for the main gallery. If you think otherwise then leave a comment.

:iconbattybuddy: has been helping me with one picture I hope to submit sometime... I'm lazy, I admit it. I need to quit setting around and say I need to do more and actually do it. I'm not getting myself anywhere at the rate I'm going.

Well, I know I sorta went on hiatus. I got out of school and I just needed a break from everything, I guess. I just haven't been doing anything over the last few weeks except work, which ha been stressful in itself. I knew my DA subscription was about to go out.. I don't know if I'll renew it or not. I haven't been drawing as much as I had. I just haven't had the urge to do anything. I am starting to draw more now. I do realise if I was to use art as a new career I need to take it more seriously and develop my skills. Setting around playing video games won't get me there.

About a month ago I old off my HP tablet computer. I got fed up with the thing. Between the problems of Windows Vista and all.... I would not recommend a tablet PC at this time for art purposes. The technology is just not there. I took the money I made off of it and bought a Wacom Bamboo pad. It is much easier to use. Though, I do miss being able to actually draw directly on the screen. The Wacom pad is much smoother, better control.. it's much more like handling a real brush or pen than what the HP tablet could simulate.

I also bought a MacBook Pro. :iconshanejensen: sold me on it. I had considered buying for years. I just never got around to it. But there are Apple exclusive programs I've been interested in and my Toshiba laptop is getting worse for wear. I'm keeping my Toshiba mostly for Windows programs and old DOS games now. So far I've liked the Apple computer, much more than Vista. There are some things I do miss off of Windows but the benefits with Apple's OS outweigh that.

I'll try to stay more active on DA. However, school is starting up again in a few weeks. Hopefully it won't be such a drain on my spare time as before. I have some sketches I would like to go back and fix up better.

Did you ride the bus today?

The other day I saw a notice on Tulsa's transit site about Dump the Pump day. I thought about about ditching my shiny antique luxury car for the day. However, things came up. First, I had to take my grandmother to her doctor. The clinic is nowhere near a bus route and she can't walk very good anyway. Also it's bloody 93 degrees Fahrenhit out there! I would be cooking all the way to the bus....

"Excuses, excuses"...I know. It's just... Quite frankly, I am absolutely terrified of riding a bus. The thing is they didn't even exist where I live while growing up. So, I never learned to use one. And now I'm afraid of getting routes mixed up or who knows what else could go wrong. :sprint:

Owning a car is an expensive burden I'd like to give up, but it's all I know and my city does not take kindly to pedestrians.

So did you "dump the pump"?

... for a week and I managed to take a week off from work. So, maybe during the next week I can finally get a new picture or two uploaded. I feel like I've been neglecting about everyone online. Hopefully now I'll have some time to catch up on my hobbies too. I miss reading and playing video games.

Oh, yeah, I posted some of my school work on Youtube. If you hadn't seen my animation assignments and want to for some strange reason, here's one of them:
